Who likes going to the dentist!! I didn't until now... The staff and dentists here are really nice, professional and they take care to out you at ease. Perla on front desk is a sweetheart and always willing to help. I've had teeth cleanings and seen Dr. Nick, both gentlemen were gentle with me as I explained my nerves and concerns about my teeth. They took time to explain everything, answer all my questions and follow up after procedures.I was so comfortable during my last cleaning, I had a little chill and nap! Thanks guys. Best part is knowing I'm in good hands as I get my dental issues fixed!!

Types of dentures

Fixed prostheses present more long-term benefits for the patient than removable ones. As the name implies, they are firmly attached to the oral cavity. Dental crowns and bridges correspond to this type of prosthesis since they are attached with dental cement and designed to remain there for years. In order for the prostheses to have stable support, it is necessary to anchor them to other teeth remaining, or the use of dental implants will be required.

  • Natural-looking aesthetics: since they are made of materials such as porcelain or ceramic, and are manufactured piece by piece, it is difficult to distinguish them from natural teeth.
  • It is the safest prosthetic option, as it is attached to the bone.
  • Easier maintenance, since it is not necessary to remove them from the mouth for total hygiene. cleaning is the same as that for any other tooth.
  • Avoids bone loss. The union of the implant with the bone (osseointegration) is so strong that it replaces the functions of the natural root, keeping the bone alive and preventing it from being reabsorbed (maxillary atrophy).
  • Allows recovering the taste of food since it leaves the palate free.
  • More comfortable: The sensation of support is total, providing great long-term stability.
  • More resistant and durable, as they are made of metal-ceramic or high resistance ceromers (composed of resin and porcelain microparticles).

A removable denture is not permanently attached to the mouth so that the wearer can remove it. Partial removable dentures are used when there are still some teeth remaining in the area of the dentition, while complete dentures are used when tooth loss is total.

Implants are a very durable solution to replace missing teeth.  It is an implant made of titanium whose mission is to serve as the root of the tooth and therefore is inserted inside the jawbone. This treatment goes hand in hand with the placement of a crown that provides an esthetic and functional nuance.

Bridge: a dental prosthesis used to replace one or more teeth. It consists of a series of crowns and pontics (artificial teeth) joined together. The crowns are attached to neighboring teeth or dental implants, allowing the artificial teeth to stand firmly in the spaces where natural teeth are missing.

Each type has its advantages and disadvantages; each person will have to weigh the pros and cons. The decision comes down to general health considerations with each type of prosthesis. Keep these aspects in mind before making a decision.

Accelerated bone loss

Once you lose teeth, the jaw bone will deteriorate. Removable dentures increase the rate at which it deteriorates. Dentures put pressure on the areas of the jaw bone used to support the teeth. Over time, dentures do not fit due to the loss of the density and shape of the jaw bone.

On the other hand, fixed dentures maintain the jaw bone as much as possible. Prosthetic implants actually attach to the jaw bone to form a firm support system. These permanent implants allow for a more comfortable life. People who choose fixed dentures can eat what they like and don’t have to worry about the movement of their dentures in the mouth.

Long-term investment

The initial price of fixed dentures is undoubtedly much higher than removable dentures. In the long run, it is a good investment. Can you put a price on comfort, stability, and happiness? It’s hard to imagine being happy wearing removable dentures if they have the option of fixed dentures. These dentures are going to look and feel better in the mouth, and that’s what really matters in the end.

Natural feeling

People who wear fixed dentures often say that they feel like their natural teeth. Fixed dentures can lead to increased confidence among people who need a replacement for their natural teeth due to improved dental aesthetics. People with fixed dentures often speak more clearly than people with removable dentures.Removable dentures may make people feel depressed and unenthusiastic. People with removable dentures often complain of pain and discomfort. Denture creams and other adhesives make life more complicated than it needs to be. People with fixed dentures seem more relaxed in their daily lives.
